Week 4 and 5 Syllabus (subject to change) 

Monday:

Class work:  Labor Day
·      Have Graphic organizer and Draft of Paper completed for Peer review

Focus: Primary and Secondary sources and using the sources
            Connect what you read in one source to information in other sources.

Homework:
·      Labor Day Have Graphic organizer and Draft completed for Peer Review

Tuesday 8th:


Class work:
·      Peer review of Papers (GRADED Assignment)
·      Papers due to turnitin.com by 6P.M.

Home work: Study for CARRDS TEST QUIZ
Wednesday 9th:

Class work:
·      CARRDS TEST Quiz
·      Read PML pp. 36-40

Focus: Analyzing and Evaluating Speeches, aphorisms (a brief easily remembered statement expressing some wise or clever observation about life), structure, and tone.


Homework:
·      REVISE Vietnam papers

·      Annotate “Ain’t I a Woman” PML pp. 40- 43

·      Download Graphic Organizer (Evaluate Credibility Template) for Constructed Response Paper pp.43 from the Evaluate Sojourner-Anthony in the 10th Grade folder in the BOX.

Prompt: Write an analysis of  “Ain’t I a Woman” and “Declaration of the Rights of Women”. Identify the elements of content (e.g., arguments, evidence, rhetorical devices, tone, and mood and organization (e.g., coherence and clarity) that each speaker uses. Then explain which speech is most effective. Include specific evidence from each speech.

Thursday10th:  Grades due!

Class work:
·      Annotate Declaration of the Rights of Women “pp. 44-46
·      Begin Graphic Organizer in Teams.

·      Complete Graphic organizer
Friday 11th

Class work:
·      NMA Field Trip to LACC

Homework:
·      Write 1st draft of Evaluating Speech Paper, Proofread for errors before submitting, Type, and submit to turnitin.com by Sunday at 5 PM so that papers can be returned Tuesday for revision.
