Focus: Analyzing and Evaluating Speeches, aphorisms (a brief easily remembered statement expressing some wise or clever observation about life), structure, tone, inductive and deductive organization.

Lunch: Chance to retake CARRDS TEST

Homework: Write a Roman Numeral Format Outline for your paper responding to the prompt: Analyze Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech “ I have been to the Mountaintop”. A review of how to outline a paper is in the “Outlining a paper” folder in the 10th grade box on the main page of the blog.  Go to LACER to have your outline reviewed if needed. Remember the INDENTS MATTER. You want to be able to make sure that the structure of your paper is strong and logical.  The topics for each paragraph should be clear.

Tuesday 22:

·      Honors 10 Lunch meeting (Dialectical Journal distribution for Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle).

Homework:
·      Complete Graphic organizer for analyzing Bill Clinton’s speech “Remarks to the Convocation of the Church of God in Christ”.  Graphic organizer is located in “Bill Clinton” folder in the 10th grade Box.  NOTE: You must discuss at least 3 of the Principles of Democracy from Mr. Bitran’s Class as applies to Clinton’s analysis of the state of freedom and human rights.
