Final Paper Prompt

 10th Grade Final Exam Essay
Please respond to the prompt below. Typed Paper due 5PM Sunday to turnitin.com.   Cal State Rubric for Argument will be used for grading.

VIvek Wadhwa believes that, “the human mind can not keep pace with the advance that computers are enabling”.   Is Wadhwa correct? After reading the Article “Laws and Ethics Can’t Keep Pace with Technology”, write an essay in which you discuss the problem and argue whether Waddhwa is correct or incorrect.  Support your position with at least three pieces of evidence from the text.  Make sure you address the potential counterarguments.  You may also conduct research or use prior knowledge to support your claim.  Provide an MLA format Works Cited List for all texts. Use parenthetical citations for facts and statistics that are not “common knowledge”.

Be Sure To:
·  Clearly and concisely state your argument/thesis
·  Clearly and concisely state at least three reasons with relevant textual evidence, making sure to explain how your evidence supports your claim
·  Include a counterclaim with a rebuttal and supporting textual evidence
·  Use precise language and vocabulary to inform or explain your topic
·  Establish and maintain a formal style
·  Provide a concluding section that follows form and supports your explanation
·       Cite your sources using MLA Format


Work with a partner to analyze the task to determine what you will need to do to successfully complete it. Highlight or underline each element or step of the task you need to consider, using a different color for each element. Once you have color-coded each element of the task, create an “I will” statement to address what it is you will do to address each element of the prompt.
